Butterfly can be seen as a symbol of transformation and change in Hindu and Buddhist thought, reflecting the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Its life cycle, starting from an egg to a caterpillar, then cocooning into a chrysalis before emerging as a beautiful butterfly, can be likened to the journey of the soul in Hinduism.

Additionally, some stories from Hindu mythology may indirectly reference butterflies or use them as metaphors.
